Solar PV upgrade for East Sussex County Council sites

CDS Electrical installed solar panels at East Sussex County Council commercial, education and government buildings sites to save money and reduce carbon footprint.

Alongside partners at the Frankham Group, CDS Electrical installed solar panels at 8 East Sussex County Council (ESCC) sites, reducing the energy consumption of these buildings and helping ESCC to achieve their carbon reduction targets.
This was a large-scale and complex project, with many challenges successfully overcome. All sites needed to remain operational during the works, including several schools. For this reason, works within schools was typically conducted during school holiday periods or outside of school operational hours, and we constantly communicated with site management teams.

Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme

All Phase 1 sites had to fully comply with the requirements of the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme, run by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

Planning Permission

All sites required planning permission from the local planning authority. However, some of the sites were subject to more stringent reviews due to the possibility of the sites impacting the visual appeal of the South Downs National Park. Meetings with outside authorities, including South Downs National Park were held to facilitate open forum discussion.

CDS Electrical installed solar panels at the following sites:

East Sussex County Council – County Hall (Local Government Building)

Hookstead Resource Centre (Local Government Building)

Milton Grange (Residential Care Home/Daycentre)

Bellbrook (Daycentre)

Hailsham East Children’s Centre (Local Government Building/Daycentre)

Hollington Library (Local Government Building)

The Keep (Local Government Building) – completed
