The reason they have managed to achieve double the energy output from the same surface area is by adapting the way the panel reflects the sun's rays. A very thin structure directs the rays to a small area of very high performance solar cells, allowing for the energy to be concentrated much more than with conventional methods.
This is an exciting time for solar photovoltaic. With twice the energy from the same surface area, it allows people with limited space to see solar panels as a more viable option than before.
At the present moment, we are in the infant stages of this new technology but the company are keen to push this idea forward and prove the economical potential.
