The main upgrade is of course what is on the inside; twice the capacity of the original version. 14 kWh as opposed to the original 7 kWh. With double the capacity, it means that you will be able to keep your home whirring along with electricity for twice as long.
Tesla's new Powerwall 2.0 is much the same as the Powerwall 1.0 but has ditched the curves and gone for a completely rectangular box. Tesla founder Elon Musk unveiled on Friday something that nobody was expecting; solar panels on the roofs of homes that actually make the roof look as good as or even better than the original. Aftermarket solar panels such as those we have been installing for many years are a great addition to any home or business but one thing they do lack is the ability to blend in with the wide variety of architecture present on today's homes. The panels unveiled are embedded directly into the tile of the roof making the panels blend seamlessly with the existing architecture. Four styles have been announced so far; all of which are made from glass but are styled to resemble particular styles. Source: Tesla The current version unveiled by Elon have a two percent loss in efficiency and therefore are only 98 percent as efficient compared to traditional after market panels. However, they are currently working on a newer model already that will potentially go beyond the efficiency of traditional panels and yield even more energy. The solar roofs are scheduled to starting rolling out to homes by the summer of 2017. The Nest Protect has recently been redesigned from the inside out. With it's latest unveiling it now had an industrial grade smoke sensor that tests itself automatically and lasts for up to a decade. Another great feature that we love about the Nest Protect is the lighting features that quickly let you know the current status. Take a look at the infographic below for a rundown of what the different colours refer to. In short, green means everything is fine, yellow means everything is ok but best to keep an eye out, and then red means there is dangerous levels of smoke or carbon monoxide. The fourth status is white, which lights the room lightly if you need to get up in the middle of the night. We are official Nest Pro installers and are able to install all of the available Nest products, including the Nest Protect. If you would like to know more about any of the Nest products or to arrange for CDS Electrical to come and fit any of the Nest products for you, please call us on 01323 734162 or send us an e-mail to info@cdselectrical.co.uk. #cds #cdselectrical #nest #nestprotect #safety #smarthome There's a lot of information about CDS Electrical that not many of our customers know. Today we begin a series of posts on social media dubbed 'Did you know?'. They will be little snippets of information about CDS Electrical that you might not have known before. Here are a couple that we will be sharing today. Keep checking back often over on our Twitter page as we will be adding more over the coming days and weeks. All of the 'Did you know?' posts are numbered in the bottom right corner so you will know if you've missed one. The government has set out a series of clean air zones that are based in five separate cities in England (Birmingham, Derby, Leeds, Nottingham and Southampton). The clean air zones are scheduled to be introduced by 2020 and is likely to improve the people's quality of life. 40,000 people die a year in the UK from air pollution. The clean air zones will give electric vehicles additional benefits as they do on the roads today and will impose greater restrictions on older more polluting commercial vehicles. The take-up of electric vehicles is certainly beginning to gain momentum. In the period from April to June 2014 there were 2,738 electric vehicles registered. 250% less than the 9,657 electric vehicles registered from April to June 2016. #cdselectrical #cds #news #electric #vehiclecharging #cleanzones The company 'The Big Lemon' who have been operating in Brighton and Hove for the past 9 years are famous for being environmentally friendly with their uses of waste cooking oil as opposed to conventional petrol or diesel to power their fleet of buses. Tom Druitt, the managing director of 'The Big Lemon' said "Electric bus technology has progressed quite far. We wanted to try that and embrace it." Bio-diesel (in this case waste cooking oil) has a low carbon footprint over petrol or diesel but there are still emissions involved.
Now, they want to take it one step further and introduce a fleet of solar powered buses which would eradicate the need of the waste cooking oil and would save the company around £20,000 a year in fuel costs. Switching over to solar power would mean a virtually zero carbon approach to transporting thousands of people everyday around a growing city. This is the first UK initiative of its kind, but there are examples of electric buses in other parts of the UK, including Harrogate and London. #cdselectrical #electrical #brighton #solarpowered #green #thebiglemon CDS Electrical are proficient in the installation of air conditioning units and are able to carry out planned and routine maintenance to your property. Air Conditioning units are not just for summer either. The introduction of HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) now means that a single unit can be responsible for cooling a room as well as heating it. It's a lot easier to regulate the temperature within your property with air conditioning, allowing you to precisely pinpoint the temperature you want. Just some of the benefits of Air Conditioning;

Unless you've seen 'Roller Roy', there's a high chance you probably haven't. Roller Roy will be roller skating along Eastbourne seafront by the R.N.L.I Museum on Sunday 16th October at 10:30am. Roller Roy who does this ever year, raises considerable amounts of money for various charities and organisations. This year all money raised is going to the 'Children with Cancer fund' and the 'British Heart Foundation'. Two great causes. CDS Electrical commend Roller Roy for this great fundraising event and we have decided to sponsor him £50, and are hoping to pop down on the day to cheer him on. "GO Roller Roy!" #cds #rollerroy #charity #eastbourne
Between April and September of this year, the UK generated more electricity from Solar panels than from coal plants. A statistic that was previously deemed 'unthinkable'. A staggering 7,000 gigawatt hours of electricity were generated in that 6 month period. 10% more than the energy produced from coal during that same time (6,300 gigawatts). The first day ever that solar energy outstripped coal was on April 9th 2016. This was mostly down to the fact that there was no coal-fired electricity for the first time since 1882, but it is still an incredible achievement to have a renewable energy source now outstripping the likes of coal. Another factor that contributed to solar outstripping coal is due to the strong sunlight seen in the summer months. It is unlikely that for the forthcoming winter months that solar will continue to be in the lead but it is a great leap in the right direction. #cds #renewableenergy #solar #coal
A month ago today on Sunday 11th September 2016, CDS Electrical hosted our first ever walking charity event. A long distance walk from Hastings Pier to Eastbourne Pier. We did a blog post about it at the time which can be found here -> Pier to Pier Challenge 2016 It was great to come into the office today and be greeted with a Thank-You certificate from Chestnut Tree House in recognition of the money that we raised. Chestnut Tree House have been really supportive with this event and we are happy we managed to smash our target of £250 and raise so much more for such a deserving charity.
